Wayne Rainey back on track – Sport


Wayne Rainey, 59 years old, three times world champion between 1990 and 1992 riding the Yamaha 500 (it was the last for the House of Iwata, before the fast interrupted by Valentino Rossi in 2004) and now at the head of the Motoamerica operation he is back in motion . On the Californian circuit of Willow Springs, With a specially modified Yamaha YZF-R1, on November 6th Wayne completed several laps rediscovering the sensations of the past.

Rainey was left without the use of his legs for a fall in September 1993 in Misano Adriatico, when he was on his way to winning his fourth world title. Willow Springs was a rehearsal, thanks also to the support of Alpinestars, who created a special suit for the Wayne team in the colors of the Yamaha-Roberts team.

Rehearsal because on November 16th Rainey will be back on track for the Suzuka Sound of Engine, a party that traditionally concludes the activities on the Japanese circuit, and that in this edition will have as guests of honor the three pilots who wrote the history of the Yamaha brand between the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 90s: Rainey, in fact, but also Eddie Lawson and Kenny Roberts.
