Direct insurance premiums - before reinsurance cessions - amounted to € 10.01 billion, up 14.5%. Solvency index at 179% </p><div> <! - <EdIndex> -><p><img style="float: left;" src="http://www.soldionline.it/pictures/2019/04/24/unipol-gruppo.jpeg" alt="unipol-group" width="200" /><strong>Unipol</strong> announced the results of the first nine months of 2019, period closed with a <strong>normalized net profit </strong>(excluding the non-recurring charges deriving from the agreements signed with the trade unions relating to the solidarity fund and other forms of incentives for the exodus) <strong>amounting to 577 million euros</strong>, up 14.6% compared to the normalized result and on a like-for-like basis of 503 million recorded in the first three quarters of the previous year. The reported net result was € 923 million, from € 843 million in the first nine months of 2018, which included a capital gain of € 309 million due to the sale of the stake in Popolare Vita.
Direct insurance premiums – before reinsurance cessions – amounted to € 10.01 billion, up 14.5% compared to the figure for the first nine months of 2018 (€ 8.74 billion), due to the improvement recorded in the Life segment (+ 39.9% to € 4.28 billion).
At the end of September, reported equity amounted to € 8.29 billion, compared to € 6.33 billion at the beginning of the year. Also at the end of September the solvency index (parameter indicating the capital solidity of insurance companies) indicated a ratio between own funds and required capital of 179%, up from the figure of 163% at the beginning of the year.
The top management reported that in the first three quarters of 2019 the company's securities portfolio obtained a return of 3.6% of invested assets, of which 3.4% related to the coupon and dividend component.
