On Twitter, the possibility of deciding what to do with accounts that survive those who created them is missing. Facebook, on the other hand, allows the "heirs" to choose whether to delete the profile of the extinct loved one or to make it commemorative, making it a virtual space for recollection.
Twitter also explained that the elimination of inactive accounts will primarily concern EU users, due to the need to comply with the new privacy regulation (Gdpr). The cancellation, which is foreseen by the social policies, could be extended in the future to other States, both to adhere to other national regulations, and to "ensure the integrity of the service", it reads.
