Trapani Birgi, Ryanair renews its confidence in Airgest: 140% growth is expected


New steps forward for the rehabilitation of the Vincenzo Florio port of Trapani Birgi. President Salvatore Ombra and the administration and finance manager of the airport management company, Dario Sorbello, held a meeting with the heads of Ryanair in Milan on November 6th.

"It was a useful step to discuss the details of our future collaboration and the concreteness of our project – explained president Salvatore Ombra -. Ryanair has shown attention and satisfaction in receiving a lasting project that can lead to a multi-year planning, for an expected growth of 140%, made possible also thanks to the tools made available by the Sicilian Region. They appreciated the tangible signals given by the territory, with the return, albeit partial, of the previous debt, finding a reliable industrial partner. A new meeting for the final definition of future operations will follow shortly ".

On the front of territorial continuity for the Naples, Brindisi, Ancona Perugia, Parma and Trieste routes, the president Salvatore Ombra announces that «thanks to the capillary action implemented, in recent months, by the board of directors of Airgest and of the whole structure , the preparatory requirements for the start-up of connections in territorial continuity for the period 2020-2022 were defined. After the confrontation with the Sicilian Region, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, MIT and the European Commission, the conference of services that will allow the publication of the calls for tenders for the assignment of the connections in OSP (Public service charges). We estimate – concludes the president of Airgest, Salvatore Ombra – that the routes will be operational by May 2020 ».
