The smartphone that becomes a POS: for MasterCard and Intesa Sanpaolo it can already be a reality

The smartphone as a POS: this is the idea that came out of the Salone dei Pagamenti underway at the Milan Mi-Co congress center. More than an idea, it is better to label Tap on Phone as a reality almost ready for the debut that aims to streamline electronic payments even for merchants.

The novelty bears the names of two giants like MasterCard and Intesa Sanpaolo: when Tap on Phone is available, the merchant will only need to download an app on his smartphone with NFC to collect payments from wearable or other smartphones (via Google Pay for example) or from contactless cards. The POS of the new millennium, super portable and always ready to use.

The virtual currency market would thus enjoy an important boost: if it has been attempted for a long time to successfully streamline payments for consumers, this would be the same for professionals and merchants.

Another important reality that has shown to want to push forward with regard to electronic payments is nexi with its Android-based SmartPOS. It is a device that could deliver payments management into the hands of an activity client: they could view the account, divide it and each pay their share.
