The incident took place on Thursday morning along the A4 at Desenzano, in the Brescia area. There was a chain collision from which, however, Goggia came out completely unharmed. Shortly thereafter the athlete reassured his fans through a story about his Instagram account, minimizing everything: "Everything is ok, that is, it was a scratch, tamponing, as if, ehlalla".
It is not the first time, however, that the champion is involved in a car accident. Even more frightening were the methods of the April misfortune when, at Sestriere, in an attempt to avoid a car that had suddenly braked in front of her, Goggia had gone off the road and ended up with her car completely over a van.
Fortunately, even on that occasion no one had reported any physical consequences and the Bergamo could lead to the end of their season, which began in late January with a double podium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and completed with silver in the Super-G at Are World Championships, as well as the conquest of the downhill World Cup.
Now, being able to start without setbacks, Sofia wants to be protagonist also in the general classification and try to improve the third place of 2017. The last victory of Goggia in the World Cup, and the only one of 2019, goes back to the descent of Crans Montana of February 23rd.
The 2020 Cup, which began October 27 with the Soelden Giant won by Australian Alice Robinson, will continue on November 23rd with a Slalom in Levi, Finland. A week later stop in Killington, in the USA, with Gigante and Slalom.
