Peru, soccer game turns into guerrilla warfare: police in the field with shields and batons


A football match turned into a riot, when players and supporters of the losing team rushed to the field and attacked the referees and the winning team. Drawing 1-1 with Deportivo Llacuabamba, Deportivo Garcilaso was eliminated in a Peru Cup game. At the final whistle, the players of Garcilaso, the technical staff and a group of fans ran on the pitch starting to throw football and punches against referees and players of the opposing team. Local media reported that Llacuabamba players were taken away from the playing field in a truck usually used to transport horses.
