The opposition leader in Peru has left prison. Keiko Fujimori, daughter of former president Alberto. He spent 13 months in jail for alleged involvement in a corruption case of the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht. The release was ordered by the constitutional court. "It was the most painful event of my life," Fujimori said as he left the prison where he embraced her husband in front of a large group of supporters.Keiko, 44, Fujimori's eldest son, took up the political legacy of her father who ruled the country throughout the 1990s. Beginning with the 1992 autogolpe, Fujimori suspended democratic freedoms, closed Parliament and imposed censorship on the media, under the pretext of Sendero Luminoso's terrorist activities. His regime lasted until the summer of 2000 when, among the protests, he left Peru to take refuge in Japan.
Arrested in Chile in 2005, he was extradited two years later to Peru, tried and sentenced to 25 years in prison for human rights violations committed during his regime. But, as the electoral results show, those of 2011 and those of today, a very large part of the country has great nostalgia for the years of Fujimori, a right-wing populist who had his moment of maximum popularity after the capture of the Maoist guerrilla leader by Sendero, Abimael Guzman. In collecting his political legacy, Keiko diluted his father's plans, denying that, if she became president, she would have pardoned him. A choice that has created a split within his family. His brother Kenji, the most voted deputy in the last parliamentary elections, defends a tougher position, did not vote for her and preferred to abstain. What is missing is about 20% of Kuzcynki seats, former banker and minister of the economy, has about 200 thousand votes in favor
