The disturbance, which has arrived in northern Italy, is intensifying in these hours due to a minimum of pressure that is being excavated downwind of the Alpine Arc, with precipitations that become battenti and also propagated to the central regions of the Peninsula.
The bad weather is due to a wide cyclonic circulation that embraces all Central-Western Europe and part of the central nations, fed by the colder air descent of maritime polar origin from Greenland to France and Spain.
So much SNOW arrives, the latest on the odds
These cold currents begin to touch Italy too, colliding with the more temperate and humid air masses. The consequence of this scenario is the imminent accentuation of bad weather, with lowering of temperatures and snow level.
At the moment it snows on the Alpine Arch generally over 1200/1300 meters, with flocks temporarily lower in correspondence with the greater rainfall. It is not excluded towards evening that the snow level may drop locally to around 1000 meters between Trentino Alto Adige and the Dolomite range.
Bad weather with another SNOW on Italy, SO MUCH is coming. Here's where
Even a few flakes are not excluded up to 1000 meters on the borders. Large accumulations of fresh snow, even over 40 cm, are expected at altitudes above 2000 meters. On the Western Alps, on the other hand, precipitation is expected to be weaker and should also be exhausted between afternoon and evening.
The snow, also during the next few hours, will also whiten the northern Apennine ridge, with flakes limit initially over 1700 meters, but with possible overflows by evening around 1300 meters. Between the Lazio and Abruzzo Apennines the snow will remain relegated well above 1500 meters.
For Saturday there will be a truce on the snowfall front, given that no significant new phenomena are expected. Residual splashes of snow in the morning will hit the Eastern Alps, up to around 900/1000 meters. This will be the first taste of a truly winter climate.
