The school wants to start a virtuous path in the reduction of waste within the framework of an increasingly growing environmental education of students. A better opportunity could only be the "European Week for Waste Reduction" (16-24 November), an initiative to raise awareness on the topic born within the LIFE + program (information and communication sector) of the European Commission. On these premises and following three words meaningful of “Know, Change, Previeni” the informational day on waste reduction is born, which will take place next Monday, November 18th, starting at 9.30 am, at the auditorium of the middle school of 'comprehensive institute "G. D'Annunzio ”of Motta S. Anastasia of via della Regione 28. The initiative is the result of the synergy of the school with Comieco, the national consortium for the recovery and recycling of cellulose-based packaging. Its purpose is the recycling and recovery of cellulosic packaging. The event will deal with the issues of greatest social impact, including composting.
At the event, sponsored not only by the school, but also by the municipality of Motta S.Anastasia and the Sicilian Region, will be attended by prof. Vincenzo Cantarella, head teacher of the "G. D'Annunzio ”, Anastasio Carra, mayor of Motta S. Anastasia, Dr. Emma Schembari, Comieco territorial referent for the Sicilian Region, Ing. Santo Oliveri, expert in urban waste collection techniques, the engineer Pietro D'Agostino, environmental technician, Avv. Carmela Lucia Zappala, Councilor for Education of the Municipality of Motta S. Anastasia, Dr. Antonio Bellia, councilor for the environment of the municipality of Motta S. Anastasia. Also present will be the school refiants for the Tatiana Mazzaglia, Tommasa Pellegrino and Maria Rita Garofalo project. The goal is therefore waste prevention and every action in the framework of the European Week for Waste Reduction to show how every actor in society – including students and school operators – can creatively contribute to reducing the waste in the first person and to communicate this message of action to others. All in an increasingly green perspective.
