Lorenzo: "I'm leaving with my head held high, let's see what life will hold for me"

Friday afternoon, during an extraordinary press conference, after 17 years of presence in the MotoGP, Lorenzo gave the farewell to the world of racing. The Valencia GP was therefore the last in his career for the Spanish driver. Here are the words of Jorge, released to Sky microphones at the end of the race.

"Today was a special day. On the grid I had a very different feeling compared to all my other races. It was a difficult day, in the early laps I was cautious because the conditions were very difficult and I wanted to finish my last race. I wanted to be cautious and not exceed my limit. I focused mainly on myself and I'm glad I got points. It was great to help the Repsol Honda team win the team championship after an incredible season with Marc. I am happy to be able to celebrate this milestone with the team, a goal that seemed impossible. It's a special day for me, but also for the team. I want to thank Honda for treating me with the utmost respect and professionalism. I wish them all the best for the future".

"One of the things I learned in this life is "never say never", because in life everything can change. Right now I think my choice is final, but one cannot know what it will feel in 4-5 months, a year. I am open to listening to all the possibilities, because so many things can be done in life. Let's see what I reserve … I have enjoyed 17 years of very nice races, almost 300 races with so many victories, so many championships … I go away with a very high head, very proud, let's see what awaits me in the next chapter of my life".
