Thus, with a note, the famous singer's death was announced this morning at his home in Rome.
Born in Campobasso, known as Alfredo Antonio Carlo Buongusto, he had achieved success in the 1960s and 1970s in Italy but also abroad, with pieces that became classics such as "A roundabout on the sea" and "Three weeks to tell".
On April 6th he had turned 84, and had been struggling with health problems for some time.
The funeral will be celebrated in Rome on Monday 11 November, starting at 3 pm, in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Montesanto (Church of the artists), Piazza del Popolo.
