A Ferrari that starts at the rhythm of samba at Interlagos. Sebastian Vettel set the fastest time during the second free practice session of the 2019 Brazilian Formula One Grand Prix and precedes a real breath Charles Leclerc, proposing one SF90 again very competitive, even if we are on a particularly tortuous circuit, in which the power of the Maranello Power Unit can be released only in the third sector with the famous climb dell'Arquibancadas. After a first session heavily conditioned by the weather, the afternoon shift he was able to proceed in an altogether regular manner, with only a few sporadic appearances of the rain, in an absolutely light and little annoying way.

The FP2 saw the pilots immediately look for the first time trial with the medium tires. Sebastian Vettel set an excellent 1: 09.570 ahead of the team mate of 250 thousandths, then Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) of 368, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) of 481, Carlos Sainz (McLaren) of 740 and Alexander Albon of 852. It closes with over a second gap, instead, Valtteri Bottas who becomes the protagonist, despite himself, of two impeding in the short term of a few seconds. First against his garage neighbor, then on Vettel who was looking for his first lap launched with soft rubber.

With the soft tires it was again the German who set the best time of the day in 1: 09.217 pointing out that there are only a few tenths of a difference between the two compounds. Behind his back, only 21 thousandths, Charles Leclerc, that comes before Max Verstappen stopped at 134 (but with a heavy gap in T3). Fourth chrono for Valtteri Bottas in 1: 09.373 to 156 thousandths, fifth for the world champion in 1: 09.440 to 223, sixth for the Danish Kevin Magnussen (Haas) in 1: 10.143 to 926 thousandths, seventh for Daniel Ricciardo (Renault) in 1: 10.194 to 977, then eighth, a great one Kimi Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo) at 993 thousandths, 9th Thai Alexander Albon (Red Bull) at 1,058, with Spanish Carlos Sainz (McLaren) tenth to 1.093. 13th time for Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) at 1.202. Very small detachments on the San Paolo track, which will give us a great show tomorrow in qualifying.

The session saw one after about 7 minutes Red flag because of a bad accident of Robert Kubica who printed his Williams in the protection at the entrance of curve 3, then one Virtual Safety Car after about an hour of action, with the French Power Unit Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) who abandoned him going up in smoke, before a new suspension (which led to the checkered flag) due to the stop of his teammate Daniil Kvyat with the car ko.

In the second part of the round the pilots focused on race pace. Also on this front the top teams are really divided by a trifle. The two Reds have often turned on the foot of 1: 13.2-1: 13.5, while the Silver arrows have remained on the foot of the 1: 13 bass, proving once again to be optimal in race set-up. Red Bull, especially with Max Verstappen, is not far off, taking advantage of a T2 in which it seems unreachable. Tomorrow everything will be in balance again. After the FP3 at 4.00 pm Italian time, we will be able to enjoy the qualifications at 7.00 pm in which everything can really happen.
