Ferrari: there will be 10 penalty positions for Leclerc – Formula 1

The team principal of the Maranello team Mattia Binotto presenting the penultimate weekend of the 2019 season of the F1 world championship, he underlined that Charles Leclerc will have a new power unit following the k.o. reported in the third free practice session in Texas in the United States. The Ferrari driver continued the Austin weekend with the Sf-90 # 16 equipped with the Evo-2 power unit, getting the second row in qualifying and the fourth place in the race.

Binotto: "Leclerc in Brazil with a new engine"

In Brazil, Leclerc will be called on for a comeback on Sunday, but not from the back of the grid. According to our editorial staff, in fact, only the internal combustion engine, the ICE (or V6), and not the hybrid part, will be replaced on the Monegasque Ferrari. This will involve a penalty of ten positions to be discounted on the starting grid. If in the qualifying Charles Leclerc were to hit pole position or the second chronometric performance he would therefore start shooting from the sixth row, a position certainly not privileged, but still dignified in order to aim for a race as a protagonist with the podium as a goal.

The Sambatico year

Leclerc currently occupies the third position in driver rankings and has 14 margin points to manage against Max Verstappen that a year ago at Interlagos was launched towards a resounding victory before the contact of the discord with Esteban Ocon, who had tried to split himself by hitting the Red Bull # 33 ended up spinning. In the episode Verstappen lost the leadership to the advantage of Lewis Hamilton, who kept it until the checkered flag.
