Digital payments: Intesa SanPaolo and Mastercard launch Tap on Phone

Is called Tap on Phone and is the first experimental solution "no hardware" made in Italy by Intesa Sanpaolo and Mastercard. Presented at Salon of Payments from Milan, Tap on Phone is the solution that allows merchants to directly use the smartphone to manage and collect payments made by their customers with contactless cards and via digital wallet (eg Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, PAyGO). All through a single app, XME Commerce, which also allows you to issue the receipt, always sending it digitally to the customer.

In the days of the Payment Hall, visitors to the stand Intesa Sanpaolo will be able to experience the ease of the new acceptance solution (currently on Samsung S8 smartphones or higher models) by making a donation to the Food Bank, a charity chosen as "operator" in favor of which to make payments during the initiative: once chosen the amount to be donated – up to a maximum of 25 euros by paying with a contactless card, with no amount or limitation with a smartphone or wearable – to make the payment simply place your card / smartphone / wearable near the Banco Alimentare smartphone.

Tap on Phone, the note reads, is born from the so-called new digital acceptance, or the path that Intesa Sanpaolo has taken in recent years to promote the dissemination and use of digital payments. The project was carried out with the support of Mercury Payment Services and Mobeewave, a company specializing in payments with mobile devices, already part of Mastercard Start Path, the startup engagement program that from 2014, the year of its foundation, involved more than 200 more advanced technology companies and startups linking them to the activities, products and global customers of Mastercard, with a total of $ 1.5 billion in capital investment. Raffaella Mastrofilippo, responsible for Transactional Products and Payment Platforms Intesa Sanpaolo comments:

"The future was yesterday, today there is the new one digital acceptance and the XME Commerce app. Strengthened by this conviction, we are accelerating the development of functional innovations to make mobile the key channel in interactions with our customers. We want to eliminate complexity, in favor of an increasingly simple, secure, hardware free multi-channel user experience. "

Antonio Di Meo, Vice President Mastercard Account Leader:

"As a Mastercard, we are close to the world of small and medium enterprises with dedicated projects tailored to facilitate their business. We strongly believe in the value that this solution can give in terms of ease of access, stimulation of use and security in the acceptance of digital payments. Finally, Tap on phone represents one of the examples of how Mastercard, as a global network connects the most innovative companies and startups in the payment system to its own business base and international customers to incentivize digitalization of payments.
