From the automotive sector to the construction sector, from home appliances to packaging. There is no industrial sector in the world, of which ArcelorMittal claims to be the main supplier. The group is a global steel and mining leader, present in 60 countries and with industrial sites in 18 countries.
It is currently the only and last European player with the appropriate size to support the confrontation with the large Eastern groups. ArcelorMittal has a production declared, in 2018, of 96.42 million tons (against a production capacity of about 118 million tons), pursued by China Baowu Group (67.43 million), Nippon Steel Corporation (49.22 ), Hbis group (46.80) and Posco (42.86 million).
THEthe ArcelorMittal giant collects the legacies of the French (Usinor and Sacilor), Luxembourg (Arbed) and Spanish (Aceralia), in 2002 merged together under one banner, Arcelor. The player, the second world producer in that period, becomes in 2006 the protagonist of a challenge with strokes of raises between the Russian Severstal and the Mittal steel group. After rejecting Mittal's approaches, Arcelor announced in May 2006 the merger with Severstal. But investors refuse, paving the way for the Mittal family.
With the merger of Arcelor Sa. (Luxembourg) and Mittal Steel Company Nv (Netherlands) the current giant was born in 2007, with 209 thousand employees and a top management based in Luxembourg and London and with the headquarters in Luxembourg, where the group is the largest private sector employer. ArcelorMittal is listed on the stock exchanges of Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Madrid, New York and Paris.
At the production level, the group has a complete mix (it is a leader in individual regional markets, such as those in North America, South America, Europe and Africa and with a significant presence in the CIS) and is present in the supply chain of numerous industrial sectors.
