A few hours before Celine Dion's return on stage on Tuesday night in Ottawa, tickets were sold on the Internet at ridiculous prices.
On StubHub, a popular resale site for concert tickets and sporting events, tickets were available for as little as $ 18.50. We are talking about seats far away from the boards, at level 300 of the Canadian Tire Center.
On Ticketmaster, the official seller, no tickets in this section of the amphitheater were offered. They had all flown when the wickets opened in April.
In all likelihood, this series of two concerts by Celine Dion in Ottawa did not allow dealers to do business gold, since initially, these same tickets cost $ 61.60. The latter therefore sold at a loss, liquidating their remaining notes.
How to explain this fall in price? The offer has exceeded demand, says Richard Dorais, co-owner of 514-Tickets, another ticket resale site.
The six performances of the Courage World Tour scheduled at the Bell Center over the two weeks leading up to Celine Dion's move to the Canadian Tire Center have certainly hurt ticket sales in Ontario. Montreal being located less than 2 hours 30 minutes by car from Ottawa, several fans around have probably preferred to reserve their seats at the Bell Center, just to be the first to applaud this new tour. In the spring, the chances that the performer would postpone all his Montreal concerts because of a virus seemed rather slim.
The last minute deals found on StubHub have undoubtedly allowed many fans of Celine Dion to attend the concert of the Quebec artist without necessarily having to break their pig. By the end of the afternoon on Tuesday, the resale site offered 230 Courage World Tour tickets at level 300 of the Canadian Tire Center, most of them at the bottom of the cost price.
At level 200, 85 resale tickets were available. Their prices ranged from $ 38 to $ 572.
At the pit, about a hundred tickets remained unsold. The price tag ranged from $ 80 to $ 900.
As for Celine Dion's second concert at the Canadian Tire Center in Ottawa on Wednesday night, it is not yet sold out. At the time of writing, $ 149 seats at level 300 were still available on Ticketmaster. On StubHub, prices were $ 92 in this section.
