One more cancellation following the famous tweet of Daryl Morey. Yesterday the Chinese government canceled an event where the Nets were to participate and the NBA announced that the Shanghai Cares NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers was canceled. The NBA said it was not his decision.
The benefits of this event were to be donated to Special Olympics, a sports organization that organizes training and competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Note that an event for fans has also been canceled.
We start to wonder if the two meetings between the Lakers and the Nets (tomorrow and Saturday) will take place … In Shanghai we do away with all traces of the announcement of the match, and if for now the meetings are still maintained , it starts to be noises of corridor. What is certain at the moment is that CCTV has decided not to broadcast these meetings as planned.
All over Shanghai, they're taking down banners and signs for the NBA in general, and for Thursday's Lakers-Nets game specifically.
Game is still officially "on" … as of now. Lots of shrugged shoulders over whether it will actually happen. pic.twitter.com/6MFqnWGjFN
