Syria, Kurds: "Our fighters evacuated from Ras al-Ayn". And the US announces: "Our soldiers will be moved to western Iraq"

There are no more Kurdish fighters a Ras al-Ayn, one of the northeastern Syrian cities under siege by the Turkish army before the five-day ceasefire proclaimed Thursday. The Kurdish commander announced it Kino Gabriel, after Saturday the general of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Mazlum Kobane, had denounced the impossibility for the Kurdish population to evacuate the area due to the opposition of pro-Ankara militias: "As part of the agreement to suspend military operations with Turkey with American mediation – reported the spokesman of the sdf, Mustafa Bali -, today we have evacuated all the Syrian Democratic Forces fighters from the city of Ras al-Ayn. We no longer have fighters in the city. " A choice that will allow men to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to occupy the area and build a first part of the buffer zone who dreams of extending up to 30 kilometers over the border between Turkey is Syria.

This is the first withdrawal since the agreement was signed for the cease-fire mediated by USA. Even the civilians leave the city because, without the protection of the YPG / YPJ, they fear reprisals.

Meanwhile, the US Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper, said that according to the current plan, US troops leaving Syria will go toWestern Iraq and that the US military will continue to conduct operations against it from thereIsis to prevent its rebirth. Not a homecoming, as announced by the president Donald Trump, but a simple move to less hot areas from a safety point of view.

Talking to journalists on the plane that is leading him into Middle East, Esper did not rule out the possibility that United States conduct counter-terrorism missions in Syria from Iraq. But he also specified that these details will be defined in the coming weeks.
