Rain or no rain does not matter. Yeah, because after seeing him play the lead role under the water, Maverick Vinales has been able to confirm itself even in dry conditions. The afternoon FP2 was in some ways a sort of qualification, since it was the only session without rain scheduled for the entire weekend and consequently it was necessary to secure a placement in the top ten to avoid the obligatory passage from Q1 .

Vinales and his M1 have shown that they have a higher pace than the competition, so much so that they are the only ones to break down the wall of 1'29 ", and then lock the time trial on the 1'28" 824.
Especially the detachment trimmed especially to the first of the pursuers, in this case Andrea Dovizioso, who accused a good half a second (+0.496). That of Marc Marquez, author of the sixth time of the day, has almost reached six tenths (+0.597).

But be careful not to underestimate the world champion, since on the race pace he was the only one to keep pace with Vinales. If we must therefore take a look at Sunday, at the moment Vinales and Marquez are the only ones with a step above the competition.

Returning to take a look at the ranking, in the middle of the second we find nine drivers. Positive signs come above all from the Ducati with Petrucci and Miller in the first five positions, preceded by a surprising Cal Crutchlow, protagonist of the third chrono of the day.

The other Yamahas, however, are lagging behind, lacking the opportunity to align with Vinales. This is the case of Valentino Rossi, who had to settle for the seventh time, struggling especially in the last sector, while two more backward positions stand out Franco Morbidelli. The Suzuki of Alex Rins entered between the two. The Aprilia of Aleix Espargarò decimates, while 13 ^ that of Andrea Iannone.

On this first day, falls were not missed. After that remedied in the morning by Quartararo, it was Pecco Bagnaia and Pol Espargarò who paid the price in the afternoon. with the latter having decided not to get on the track for the additional twenty minutes of tire testing.

Finally, remember that at Phillip Island Johann Zarco inaugurated his adventure with Cecchinello's Honda. In what was the first dry shift, the Frenchman earned a good second and a half from the top, finishing fifteenth. Behind him Jorge Lorenzo, that in the end he had a little skirmish with Marquez. In the final stretch of the track Jorge found himself in front of Marc, in the inevitable overtaking, given the difference in speed, the 93 blew up the wing of the Majorcan Honda. Later, just to avoid missing anything, the eight-time world champion railed with his companion who was on the trajectory but at a much lower speed.
