Earthquake in Calabria, tremor of magnitude 4.4: fear in Scalea

SCALEA (COSENZA) – An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 was recorded at 6:31 am in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off Scalea. The epicenter was located at a depth of 11 kilometers. Seven minutes later, the seismographs recorded another shock at the same point, but milder, of magnitude 2.5.According to preliminary findings, there was no damage either in Scalea or in the surrounding centers, but the quake was clearly felt by the population that poured into the street. However, the railway traffic on the Sapri-Paola line where the RFI technicians are at work, according to what the company of the Fs group communicates has been suspended for checks.
"Following the seismic event registered by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in the province of Cosenza, the Italy Situation Room of the Civil Protection Department has been in contact with the local structures of the National Civil Protection Service. the event – with an epicenter located in the Tyrrhenian Sea – is felt by the population, but no damage to people or things has been reported ". This was announced by a statement from the Civil Protection.
