Miami – Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich broke his kneecap with a foul kick Tuesday and will miss the rest of the season.
The Brewers did not report how long the current Most Valuable Player of the National League will be out and if he could return for the postseason that begins on October 1. Milwaukee began two games of the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday for the second National wild card.
Yelich hit a ball to his right leg in the first inning against Miami. He was lying on the ground for several minutes before leaving lame towards the dugout.
Yelich finished the season with an average of .329, 44 homers and 97 RBIs, plus 30 stolen bases. The gardener led the Great Lifas in percentage of slugging and embasamiento before injuring himself.
