For the third consecutive day the Nicaragua National Team was defeated, this time with a 9-0 score for Canada, which leaves it with one foot out of the second round of the U-18 Baseball World Cup in South Korea.
Even with Lesther Medrano on the hill, who was recently signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, the national team could not face the offensive push of the Canadians, who along with Korea are already qualified for the super round robin.
Now the situation in Nicaragua is more than complex, since it is waiting for the reprogramming matches on Wednesday, the Netherlands against China and Canada against Australia.
Australia and the Netherlands have a 2-2 balance, while Nicaragua was 2-3, so for the Nicaraguan team to have any chance of progress, it needs both teams to lose.
Medrano threw five innings of four races (three clean), six hits, three bases for balls and six strikeouts, and loaded with defeat on Tuesday.
Among the 13 hits of the Canadians, three were from Noah Hull – in four innings -, including two-run homer in the second episode and single producer of one in the ninth.
The Nicaraguan offensive got six hits, leaving aside the bad taste of the game without a hit or run that the Korean Lee Minho gave him on the previous day.
Róger Leytón was the only single hitter who gave two hits, in three turns. They gave an unstoppable Cristhian Moreno, Enmanuel Aburto (double), Jorge López and Francisco Rodríguez.
The victory went to Jack Seward, who in 5.2 episodes limited four hits to the pinoleros, gave six bases per ball and struck out nine.
The game ended in Nicaragua Christopher Osorio, who in four innings allowed five clean runs, gave three tickets and struck out four.
