Falabella once again becomes the only Chilean retail company that integrates the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index (DJSI World), which brings together leading multinational companies open in terms of sustainability, based on economic, social and environmental criteria.
Through an official bulletin, the company also confirmed that it has managed to be in fourth place worldwide, always in the retail category. The document, published on September 16, reveals that Falabella also remains the only Chilean company that is part of four Dow Jones indices: world, emerging markets, MILA and Chile.
In the social field, the Santiago-based company obtained the highest score in its industry and was the best evaluated globally. In this category, aspects such as development of human capital, attraction and retention of talent, social investment programs, human rights, among others are measured.
"Integrating the DJSI World for the fourth consecutive year is a recognition of our management and an incentive to continue reinforcing the commitment we have with all our stakeholders. There is still work to be done, so sustainability is one of the strategic pillars of each of the business units that make up Falabella, ”said Gaston Bottazzini, general manager of the Chilean giant.
The DJSI was born in 1999 and is jointly developed by S&P Dow Jones Indices and the Swiss specialized firm RobecoSam. The index, which monitors the progress of organizations in economic, social and environmental matters, is considered one of the most rigorous and respected assessments in the world.
For this year, the DJSI was made up of 3517 companies, from 61 industries and 47 countries, which presented the best financial performance measured by market capitalization in the S&P Global Broad Market Index. The companies presented their annual corporate sustainability assessment to form the Dow Jones Global Sustainability Index 2019.
