DALLAS – Ezekiel Elliott arrived in Dallas to finalize what looks like an imminent contractual agreement to report with the Cowboys and be ready to face the New York Giants in the first game of the regular season.

The Cowboys star runner landed around 5:30 p.m. Local time (6:30 p.m. ET) at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and from there, according to his agent Rocky Arcenaux, he went to the team's facilities to sign the new contract.

Elliott, who was absent from the entire training camp and did not play the preseason with the Cowboys, traveled to Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico, to prepare physically on his own.

"We are very, very close to completing the negotiations," Arcenaux said at the airport. The agent refused to reveal the missing details to close the new deal and if Elliott would appear to train on Wednesday, the first day of formal preparation for the game against the Giants.

Arcenaux insisted that Elliott showed his commitment to reach a definitive arrangement upon returning from Los Cabos and said the team also appears to be committed to closing a new contract.

Elliott is under his rookie contract, which expires at the end of the 2020 season, but he missed 40 training during the contractual dispute in which he seeks an agreement that makes him one of the best paid brokers in the NFL.

Various reports have indicated that Elliott's new contract could be around $ 90 million for six seasons.

According to sources, on Tuesday there was not yet a pre-contract and there were several details to close, including the amount of money guaranteed that Elliott would receive.

Jerry Jones, owner and general manager of the team, said Tuesday morning in an interview with 105.3 FM The Fan that Elliott has no deadline to report with the team.
