Very localized storms. On Saturday, the first day of Lille's big sell-off was rewarded with a wonderful time. A beautiful sun for everyone except for
The Republic in March (LREM) which saw passing some big clouds. The presidential movement's stand was the target of violence and one activist was injured.
Traditionally, during the Braderie de Lille, political parties set up their stands near the Porte de Paris, near the town hall. LREM's tent found itself semi-detached from that of insubordinate France (LFI). For the walkers, the atmosphere was quickly tense. They were first visited by
"Yellow vests" who sang songs suggesting rather explicitly all the good they thought of the President of the Republic.
Indignant at the free and violent attacks that shortened our visit with @StanGuerini on the stands of @LaRemNord and other political groups Porte de Paris. All my support and thoughts for the assaulted walkers and thank you to the police. https://t.co/EsXZseON9U

The candidate newly invested by LREM for municipal Lille, Violette Spillebout, received the general delegate of the movement, Stanislas Guerini, to inaugurate, around 17h, his local campaign located rue Gambetta. The Northern Walkers feared incidents during this inauguration. It has not happened. On the other hand, it was when Violette Spillebout and Stanislas Guerini went to visit the Porte de Paris stand that things degenerated. According to our information, objects were thrown at the walkers and shots were exchanged between LREM activists and unidentified individuals.

In a statement, LREM Nord denounces "violence led by ultra and anti-system groups". It is also stated that "some activists" were "wounded in the face". It took the intervention of the police to calm the mood. Nevertheless, the alleged attackers were not arrested. The stand was dismantled in the wake but the movement ensures that it will be in place again this Sunday.
the political stands must be respected at the Braderie, as all stands. We are in a democracy and in the Republic. I learn that there has been violence against En Marche militants. This is unacceptable and totally contrary to the spirit of our city. 1/2

Moreover, on Twitter, the mayor (PS) of Lille, Martine Aubry, regretted these incidents, insisting on the fact that "the political stands must be respected". The woman also assured her opponents that arrangements will be made for "their presence can be ensured in the best conditions".
