Women's Baseball: Canada Qualifies for World Cup

The Canadians got their ticket thanks to a victory over the Mexicans on Saturday in the qualifying tournament. They could not finish the match because of the rain.

Cuba helped Canada qualify by beating the Dominican Republic.

The four top-ranked teams from the eight regional teams participating in the tournament qualified.

Canada (3-2) started the tournament with victories against the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Cuba, but suffered two straight losses against the United States and Venezuela.

Canada, ranked 2nd in the women's competition behind Japan, won the bronze medal at the last World Cup in 2018. In total, the Canadians have won six medals since the beginning of the international tournament in 2004.

Japan will try to defend its title for the sixth time in a row.
