Virgil van Dijk voted best player of the year in Europe

Virgil Van Dijk just outclassed Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard and other big names in the title of Europe's best player for the 2018/2019 season. Author of a clear round with Liverpool FC, crowned by obtaining the Champions League, he illustrates himself having not undergone any successful dribble during a full season.

Since the creation of this trophy in 2010, van Dijk is the first defender to win this distinction. He is also the first Dutchman to obtain it. In the same way, this trophy was for the first time attributed to a player evolving in a club of England, after an absolute domination of the players of FC Barcelona (3 times) and Real Madrid (4 times), interrupted only by Franck Ribéry (Bayern Munich) in 2012-2013.

The 28-year-old Red received his trophy in Monaco in the UEFA Champions League group stage draw on Thursday (August 29th) in Monaco.
