Violent thunderstorms hit Wednesday, August 28, late afternoon, the region of Taroudant. Local authorities report a death toll of seven dead and several missing, due to the flooding of several wadis.
"The waters of the wadis – which were dried out because of the drought – suddenly took away everything in their path," according to the same source, which does not exclude that these sudden bad weather caused casualties.
Relief, including those of the civil protection, were sent urgently to the scene, in an area located 90 km from Ouarzazate.
"One does not exclude the hypothesis that people have perished in these floods", indicates the same source.
