Two hikers in distress on the North Shore

Research operations were underway Friday morning on the North Shore to find two hikers who would be in distress in the area of Monts Groulx.

Relatives of the two men who had been on a hike for two days received a distress signal. They immediately contacted the police at the MRC de la Manicouagan post. Research operations began Thursday night.

The Sûreté du Québec helicopter (SQ) is scheduled to fly over the area on Friday morning. The police can not search by mountain bike or on foot since it is a very isolated area located 100 kilometers north of the Manic 5 dam.

A re-evaluation of the deployment will be made by the authorities later Friday morning.

The SQ indicated that both men would have experience to complete this type of excursion.
