She is the third French crowned at the Tokyo Worlds.
Another medal for the tricolor delegation! French judoka Madeleine Malonga won her first world title Friday (August 30th) in Tokyo, beating the Japanese Shori
Hamada in the under 78 kg category. The French defeated the defending champion by ippon, one minute and 36 seconds from the end of the fight. To reach the final, she had won the double world champion and two-time Olympic medalist, Brazil's Mayra Aguiar, in the semi-finals.
At the age of 25, it is the first world medal for Madeleine Malonga, already crowned European Champion in 2018. She brings to the French team her fifth award of these World Championships, the third in gold after those conquered by Clarisse Agbegnenou (-63 kg) and Marie-Eve Gahié (-70 kg). Margaux Pinot and Axel Clerget won the bronze medal.
