National coach Vahid Halilhodzic announced on Tuesday the list of 27 players selected for the next two friendlies that will compete next September in Marrakech EN against Burkina Faso and Niger.
A list where there is more room for some former executives like Mbarek Boussoufa and Karim El Ahmadi who had announced their international retirement, as well as Mehdi Benatia and Marouane Da Costa for whom the National Eleven is, apparently, a page turned. Of the old guard, only Nabil Dirar continues the adventure, if we consider that elements like Ghanem Saïss, Fayçal Fajr, Younès Belhanda and Noureddine Amrabet have not yet said their last word and are able to be d a great contribution for the selection in the next official deadlines.
Of the 27 summoned, six are "Botolistes", which is a first and an encouraging signal for the local players who must say that they can now join Team A provided they deserve it. And among these internationals, we find the neophyte Omar Boutayeb, the right side Rajawi who emerged from the lot, and Wydadi Walid El Karti, an offensive midfielder summoned to seize his chance, especially as regards the continental experience, he has to resell.
Halilhodzic's list also included ghosts, the most prominent of which is Adel Taarabt, who was able to find a second youth with the Benfica club, in addition to Jawad El Yamiq, Rachid Allioui, Mehdi Carcela and Walid Azarou.
Just like Boutayeb, the other blue of the list is the right-back Issam Chabbak, the member of the Turkish team of Malatyaspor in which he has been playing since 2017, knowing that previously, he had worn the colors of the French club from Le Havre from 2014 to 2017.
As for the other names, Vahid Halilhodzic and his staff have seen fit to keep the backbone and many of the key players in the continuity and not the break that could lead to unfortunate consequences.
The national A team will enter the training camp from 1 September next and the two test matches scheduled at the Grand Stadium in Marrakech on 6 against Burkina and 10 against Niger should allow the new coach to see at work all the players before the first official meeting on November 11 against Mauritania on behalf of the qualifiers of CAN 2021 in Cameroon.
In addition, and like Vahid Halilhodzic, the U23 national coach, Patrice Beaumelle, has summoned 27 players in prospect of the decisive match against Mali counting for the final qualifying round at the CAN of this category whose final stages will take place from November 8 to 22 in Egypt.
A list which, on paper, gives signs of satisfaction with reinforcements of size to begin with the international team A, Achraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazroui and Youssef En Nseyri.
Beaumelle, former deputy of Hervé Renard, said he knows his band well who will certainly have a lot to do in front of a hunk, the Malian team, on September 7 in Marrakech to go, and the 10th of the month to Bamako for the return.
It should be remembered that the Egyptian U23 CAN qualifies for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic football tournament. The first three will qualify directly for the Japanese edition as the fourth-placed team will play a match. barrage against a pretender of the Asian Confederation.
