According to the US Department of Labor, weekly jobless claims for the week ended August 24 reached 215,000, up 4,000. The consensus was 214,000.
The four-week average is 214,500, says the Department at work. A figure very slightly down (-500) compared to the previous week.
The number of unemployed people compensated during the week ended August 17th amounted to 1.698 million, an increase of 22,000 over seven days.
