At least five people died and 21 were wounded when a gunman shot at Odessa in western Texas, the police said.
The main suspect was reportedly shot dead in front of a movie theater. There would be no other active shooter at this time.
According to Odessa police, one or two suspects hijacked a truck from the United States Postal Service and began firing at random. "At this time, there are several victims," reads his Facebook page.
Earlier, he reported that another suspect was fleeing behind a golden vehicle. This individual would be armed with a rifle.
The University of Texas Permian Basin has been placed in confinement.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has urged people to avoid major highways in the area. Odessa is a town about 30 km southwest of Midland. Both are separated from Dallas by more than 480 km.
