Quebec's Maxence Parrot won the gold medal in the X Games' Big Air event Saturday in Oslo as he returned to competition after defeating cancer.
The skateboarder from Bromont, who was undergoing chemotherapy treatments a few weeks ago, has thus signed a fifth triumph at this prestigious competition.
To do this, he scored 91 in the final, which had dominated the qualifications and subsequent stages. During his last jumps, Parrot has notably achieved a "cab triple cork 1620 indy" and a "Frontside triple cork mute".
The Belle Province representative edged Sweden's Sven Thorgren and Japan's Yuki Kadono, who won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Parrot announced in January that he had Hodgkin lymphoma and had missed the rest of his season. He received many treatments in June and resumed training quickly. His goal was to return to the competition in Oslo.
