Premier League: Chelsea held in check by Sheffield United despite Abraham's new double – Foot – ANG

The match: Chelsea ruined everything

Dirty weather for the blues blues. While the metronome N'Golo Kanté is currently injured, Kurt Zouma – convened by Didier Deschamps – deflected a center in his own goal and offered the draw to Sheffield this Saturday at Stamford Bridge (2-2). Chelsea led however 2-0 at halftime.

In the tricolor beam, Olivier Giroud can also worry. Called again for the September rally, the French striker, holder early in the season, has likely missed his chance. Frank Lampard now trusts the young (21) Tammy Abraham at the tip of his eleven, and the latter – loaned to Aston Villa last season – continues to prove him right.

Faced with the promoted, he offered a new double, one week after the one registered in Norwich (3-2). His two goals of the day were scored as a result of adverse errors. First on a dangerous intervention of the goalkeeper (1-0, 19th), then on a disagreement between two defenders (2-0, 43). Abraham's promises, however, should not overshadow the lack of consistency of his team, illustrated by the nice gap in Sheffield's gap just after the break (2-1, 46th). And, therefore, by the unfortunate equalization of Zouma at the end of regulation time (2-2, 89th).

This new underperformance (1 win, 2 draws and 1 defeat in the Premier League this season) leaves the Blues in ninth place, tied for points with their opponents of the day. These are precious lost points in the race to Europe.

The other meetings: Leicester and Palace in the Big Four

If Chelsea is struggling, everything is fine for Leicester since the recovery. This Saturday, the Foxes have mastered Bournemouth in their stadium (3-1), thanks to a doubled Vardy and a goal from Tielemans. This allows the Foxes to be third, one length ahead of Crystal Palace, who beat Aston Villa at the same time (1-0). Jordan Ayew was the only goal scorer.

For their part, Newcastle and Watford – current red lantern – have not managed to separate (1-1).
