Pirates First – Canada English


The Pro-Conseil Masonry Pirates of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu started the playoffs of the Quebec Major League Baseball League on a high note with the Cardinals of Saint-Jérôme, 3-1, Thursday night at Richard Stadium -Fountain.

The visitors took a 1-0 lead on a Mark Nadler circuit in the opening round. The score remained that way until the end of the sixth inning, while the Pirates scored three points, two on a Drake Yoshioka single and one on a Tommy Rozon single.

On the mound, François Lafrenière was once again very solid, limiting the Cardinals to six hits. He removed six batters.

On the defensive, outfielder Dany Deschamps made an accurate shot at home to remove a runner. Receiver Guillaume Morin also made a point of withdrawing a player who was trying to steal the second goal.

The second game of this series 4 of 7 will take place Sunday in Saint-Jérôme.
