NHL: Defender Ben Lovejoy Retires at Age 35

            <p>Veteran defenseman Ben Lovejoy is retiring after 11 seasons in the NHL.

Aged 35, Lovejoy announced his decision during his visit to the chain NHL Network, Wednesday evening.

Ignored in the repechage, the American back made his debut in 2008-2009, with the Penguins of Pittsburgh. He also played with the Anaheim Ducks and New Jersey Devils before finishing his career with the Dallas Stars.

Lovejoy won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in the spring of 2016. He then provided two goals and six points in 24 playoff games.

He has 544 regular season games in the Bettman circuit.
