At least 298 people were hospitalized for serious pulmonary problems related to vaping.
These new figures are up more than 50% compared to those released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Department of Health.
In light of these alarming numbers, the Milwaukee Health Department has asked residents to stop using vaping devices immediately.
According to the department, 16 people in Wisconsin have "serious chemical pneumonia" after inhaling nicotine or oils.
Fifteen other cases in this State are under investigation. There were no products or devices to link all cases, either in Wisconsin or in the other 22 states reviewing cases.
States affected or under investigation include: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York , North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.
