Good news, according to a study published Thursday, August 29 by the online childcare platform Yoopies, France is the cheapest country in Europe in terms of individual care. In fact, after several years of strong growth, the prices of childminders stabilize in 2019. In contrast, those of nannies increase. We take stock.

Nursery assistants

The hiring of a maternal assistant is the preferred individual mode of care of the French: about 86% of parents use it. In 2019, the price of childminders stabilizes at 3.52 euros net on average per hour per child, 0.8% more than last year, reveals the study conducted by the platform Yoopies, in partnership with the national network of Urssaf, Acoss.

In Corsica, however, the most expensive region, parents have to pay nearly 1.5 times to keep their children (4,44 €). The PACA region and Ile-de-France complete the podium of the most expensive regions with respective prices of 4.16 euros and 3.94 euros per hour per child.

In summary, parents of young children must therefore pay an average of 511 euros per month to pay their maternal assistant. In fact, once the aid received from the Family Allowance Fund * (CAF), the hiring of a maternal assistant returns on average at 119 euros per month.

Home care

Unlike a childminder, who is home to up to 4 young children, the nanny, or home care, takes care of children directly with their parents or with another family in the case of shared custody. .

This type of care is chosen by 14% of families. According to the Yoopies study, its price increased by 2.2% in 2019. On average, a family spends 9.12 euros net per hour to keep her children at home. A clarification however: it is a honorary price that does not take into account the number of children nor the charges. Home-based care is therefore more cost-effective than a childminder with two children.

The cheapest regions are Hauts-de-France (€ 8.67), the Grand-Est region (€ 8.72) and Burgundy-Franche-Comté (€ 8.80). In Corsica, however, the most expensive region, parents have to pay around 9,52 euros for home care.
