Mathieu Betts released by the Bears

First reported by Kevin Fishbain who writes for The Athletic in Chicago, the news was confirmed at Radio-Canada Sports by the agent of 24-year-old Montrealer Sasha Ghavami.

Betts was not drafted at the NFL auction in April. But at the very end of the repechage, he got along with the Bears.

The Rouge et Or alumnus of Laval University has participated in four preliminary games, during which he has accumulated three tackles as linebacker.

If no other NFL team signs him, Betts will be able to report to the Edmonton Eskimos who hold his rights in the Canadian Football League. The Eskimos had selected him in the first round, in 3rd place.
