Shortly before 8am Friday morning, the Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) announced that the firefighters had finally managed – after almost two days of struggle – to extinguish the fire that broke out Wednesday morning in the morning. Gadderscheier industrial area in Sanem / Differdange.
The firefighters of Luxembourg will finally be able to breathe while hundreds of them have been mobilized since Wednesday morning. They even received the support of French colleagues.
The fire broke out in an outdoor storage area for laminated wood waste. The causes of the incident remain unknown for the time being. The composition of the materials and the configuration of the site made the extinguishing operations particularly complicated. The flames progressed rapidly due to a moderate wind but whirling and scavenging for rescue.
