Iran: Trump assures US not "involved" in rocket explosion

INTERNATIONAL – US President Donald Trump assured on Friday (August 30th) that the United States was "not involved" in the apparent explosion of a rocket in Iran.

In a tweet with a satellite image, Donald Trump claimed that this "catastrophic accident" occurred during the "final preparations" for the launch of a Safir rocket at the Semnan site in northern Iran. .

"I send my best thoughts to Iran and wish him good luck in finding out what happened," he also wrote.

Iran assures that its rocket program is intended for civilian use in outer space. But because rockets use technology similar to that of long-range ballistic missiles, Washington is suspicious.

Iran and the United States have been under severe pressure since Washington's unilateral withdrawal in May 2018 of the three-year-old international nuclear deal.
