Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed to an exchange between goalkeepers Keylor Navas and Alphonse Areola.
According to the Spanish press, the Merengues goaltender will join Paris Saint-Germain, Ligue 1 champion, before closing the transfer windows on 2 September.
The Costa Rican international has been linked to a Santiago Bernabeu start this summer, but he and his coach Zinedine Zidane have since indicated he will stay at the club this year.
However, the PSG is about to rekindle his interest for the 32-year-old and intends to attract him in his nets for a free transfer.
Indeed, the French giants have agreed to match the salary of Navas to Real Madrid, with a three-year contract and an annual salary of 6 million euros.
Areola in Madrid
In parallel with the release of Navas, PSG will also loan Alphonse Areola to Real Madrid for the 2019-2020 season.
The goalkeeper should leave the Parc des Princes before the deadline for the end of the transfer window fixed Monday.
The capital club coach, Thomas Tuchel, confirmed that the club was in talks about the transfer of goalkeeper Alphonse Areola after his absence from the group for Friday's match against Metz.
Areola will assume his role as substitute for Zidane's top scorer, Thibaut Courtois, while Navas will become No. 1 in Parc des Princes.
