Taxes, gas, school or conversion premium … Small and big changes are introduced from September 1st and, like every month, 20 minutes explains everything to you

Bye bye student social security scheme

This is the end of Student Safety. On September 1st, all students still affiliated to a mutual will automatically (and for free) be attached to the general scheme of health insurance. The extinction was scheduled: the law of March 2018 on access to the university had recorded the two-step elimination of the student social security scheme. Student mutuals will continue to offer complementary health offers.

Regulated gas prices down

Regulated gas tariffs, applied by Engie, will drop on average by 0.9% on 1 September. "This drop is 0.2% for customers who use gas for cooking, 0.5% for those who have dual use, cooking and hot water, and 1.0% for homes that heat gas, "details the regulator. The decline affects nearly 4.2 million households.

As of 1 July 2019, regulated gas tariffs had already fallen by 6.8% on average and by 0.5% in August. These rates have been decreasing since December 2018.

The conversion bonus is transformed

Vehicles classified in the Crit'air 2 sticker and registered before 1 September 2019 will no longer be eligible for this bonus, intended to replace its old vehicle with a new, less polluting one. This new measure automatically excludes all diesels registered before that date.

The (in) equality between men and women in companies made public

Companies with more than 250 employees are now obliged to publish their "gender equality index". On March 1st, this tool was set up to enforce equality in companies. The overall score on 100 points is calculated on five criteria. Below 75 points, the company has three years to get back to level, under penalty of fine.

It's back to Blanquer's "school of trust"

From the beginning of the school year (September 2nd, more exactly), the instruction is obligatory from 3 years (against 6 today). It was the flagship measure of the bill of the Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, "for a school of trust," adopted early July. This measure will concern 26,000 children who are not currently attending school (98% already go to nursery school at this age).

The text also requires the display, in all classrooms, of French and European flags, the motto "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" and the words of the national anthem. To learn more about the complete project, it's here.

Pay attention to the tax rate at source

The withholding tax rate from the income tax could be updated following your last return, warns the Figaro. This percentage was communicated to you in the spring after your online tax return. Another notice was sent to you this summer. This rate will be applied until August 2020.
