Bouygues Telecom has just published its results at the end of the first half of 2019. Without making much noise, the operator continues to grow and is making a place on the front end-to-end fiber (FttH).
A good month after Orange, it was the turn of Bouygues Telecom, Thursday, August 29, to unveil its results at the end of the first half of 2019. And as usual for a while now, the operator has published only positive indicators. Over the first six months of the year, its turnover reached 2.913 billion euros, up 14% from 2.563 billion recorded a year earlier. EBITDA, for its part, stood at 653 million euros, against 551 million in 2018, for a margin of 29.3%, up 2.7 points over the year. The operating result has also jumped, but it will be noted in this respect that in parallel "gross operating investments totaled 530 million euros, down 91 million euros year-on-year".
In terms of customers, all the lights are also green for Bouygues Telecom. On the mobile side, the operator has opened some 719,000 additional lines over the semester, for a total of 17,070 million units as of June 30, 2019. However, a majority of these new customers are actually machines ( machine-to-machine; MtoM). Excluding MtoM, the number of mobile customers grew in the first half of the year by 218,000, and by 280,000 by counting only the flat rates. The total fleet excluding MtoM thus reached June 30th to 11,632 million customers. In all, revenue from mobile services grew by 6% between the second quarters of 2018 and 2019.
In the fixed-line segment, Bouygues Telecom claims some 90,000 new customers over the half-year, but above all the recruitment of 176,000 FttH customers (end-to-end fiber) during this period (82,000 in the second quarter). As of June 30, the total fixed pool consisted of 3,766 million subscriber households, including 745,000 fiber households. A positive dynamic that is reflected in the turnover. Fixed-side services posted revenue growth of 15% in the second quarter compared with the spring of 2018. Bouygues Telecom will therefore continue its momentum and confirms the objective of 12 million FttH outlets marketed at the end of 2019 (9.1 million at 30 June, +3.6 million over the year).
