Andrei Markov wants to replay in the NHL, preferably with the Canadiens

Met in the Montreal Canadiens striker Jonathan Drouin, another of his clients at Club Laval-sur-le-Lac, Walsh did not specify the identity of these teams or if the Habs was part of it.

"Things got going yesterday (Wednesday), several teams phoned for information. There were questions about his physical condition. I sent them a video where we see it in training. Some even went to Florida to see him skate. It would have been the 1st of July (at the opening of the market of autonomous players, Ed), first said Walsh, good seller.

If Andrei Markov has already expressed the wish to return to play in Montreal, Walsh did not want to go into details about the possible discussions that have already taken place.

Andrei has already made it clear that his heart was and will always be in Montreal. He would love to finish his career and play his 1000th game in the NHL in the Canadiens uniform. Whether it's done or not, he is 100% committed to replaying this season in the NHL.

Only five players have played 1000 games or more with the Canadiens: Henri Richard (1258), Larry Robinson (1202), Bob Gainey (1160), Jean Beliveau (1125) and Claude Provost (1005).

With that, Allan Walsh is hopeful that his client will find a job somewhere in the NHL. He says Markov is looking for a one-year contract.

It's realistic, at age 40, to go one year at a time. To find out if he's open to playing more than a season, I'll just say he loves the sport and he likes to play hockey. He will want to do it as long as he feels like he's helping a team, coaching the youngest, whether it's five-on-five or contributing to the power play. We believe he still has good energy reserves.

The agent is so confident that Markov will sign a new agreement that he refuses to consider the possibility that his client would come to a team's training camp for a simple trial.

Andrei Markov has played the last two seasons in the Continental League (KHL) with Kazan's AK Bars, with which he has amassed 7 goals and 40 assists in 104 games.

In the NHL, the Canadiens' sixth-round pick in 1998 (162nd overall) totals 119 goals and 453 assists in 990 games, all with the CH. He also has 5 goals and 27 assists in 89 playoff games.
