Anderlecht strengthens its offensive sector: striker Mbaye Diagne arrives on loan

A few days before the end of the transfer window, Sporting Anderlecht has enlisted the services of a new striker.

ATwhen the transfer window closes Monday at midnight, Anderlecht wanted to offer the services of an attacker to strengthen an offensive sector struggling since the beginning of the championship, despite the more or less imminent returns of Roofe and Dimata. Brussels leaders – including Marc Coucke willing to pay at least € 2 million salary for the rare gem – will achieve their goal by attracting Mbaye Diagne (27) who arrives in the form of a loan from Galatasaray where he is still under contract until June 2023 and with whom he won the championship and the Cup. All in the space of six months since Diagne had started the 2018-19 season in Kasimpasa. After 17 days, the Senegalese had scored 20 goals and this convinced the Istanbul club to transfer. He continued on his way and even finished top scorer in the championship with 30 goals in 29 games.

Aged 27 (he will be 28 in October), Mbaye Diagne is a pure number 9 who belonged during 3 seasons to Juventus (2012-15) where he had arrived at the age of 20 years. He is also a famous globetrotter since, besides Turkey and Italy, he has evolved in France, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, China and Belgium. During his Turin season, he spent six months at Lierse in 2014 (7 goals in 11 games) and six months at Westerlo the following season (3 goals in 11 meters). Since his arrival at Kasimpasa in January 2018, where he was the teammate of Trezeguet, Diagne has found a famous regularity in front of the goal. In Anderlecht, it is hoped that the Senegalese will continue the momentum of the last 18 months and largely resolve the offensive deficiencies Mauves.
