(Montreal) The Montreal Alouettes have added an experienced receiver to their offensive unit.
Khari Jones' team signed a contract with Chris Matthews, recently released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The six-foot, 230-pound catcher has played six games this season with the Bombers, capturing 12 passes for 180-yard gains and a touchdown. He began his career in the CFL in 2012 with Manitoba training. He had captured 81 passes, 1192 yards and seven touchdowns in 18 games and won the rookie of the year award.
The receiver stayed with Winnipeg in 2013 before heading to the NFL to play with the Seattle Seahawks and the Baltimore Ravens from 2014 to 2017. At the Super Bowl XLIX, he had four receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown. the Seahawks.
The native of Long Beach, California, joined the Calgary Stampeders late in 2018, playing the last four games of the regular season, the Western final and the Gray Cup game. The 29-year-old captured 19 balls for 350 yards and one touchdown before lifting the Gray Cup.
