ENERGY – The national production of electric power recorded a growth of 25,1% during the first semester of 2019, after + 6% a year before, according to the Department of studies and financial forecasts (DEPF).
This growth in national production of electricity production benefited in particular from the increase in private production of 49.1% at the end of the first half of 2019, after + 3% a year earlier and that of the production of projects developed under of the 13-09 law of 64.3%, explains the DEPF in its note of conjuncture of the month of August 2019.
The DEPF notes that this production also maintains its consolidated growth for the second quarter of 2019 with an increase of 22.5%, consolidating an increase of 27.9% in the first quarter of the same year.
92% decline in imports
In a context of net energy growth of 5.3% at the end of June, after + 0.1% a year earlier, the volume of imports of electricity fell by 92% in the first half , says the same source.
On the other hand, the consumption of electric energy was favorable in the second quarter, posting a 2.4% increase, after four quarters of negative evolution, driven particularly by the good sales performance of the medium voltage energy (+ 11%), distributors (+ 4.2%) and low voltage energy (+ 6.4%), indicates the DEPF.
The note also shows that at the end of the first six months of 2019, sales of electrical energy increased by 0.8%, after a decline of 1% a year earlier.
